Award, Achievement, and Milestone Press Releases

Write an accurate announcement about a real award or measured milestone, with clear criteria and useful context.

An award or milestone can be news when readers can understand exactly what was earned or measured. Name the awarding organization, category, year, and criteria; for a milestone, explain the counting method and period. Avoid turning a paid badge, nomination, or self-reported target into an independent honor.

Award release structure

Lead with the recognition

[Organization] received [full award name] from [issuer] for [category] on [date]. State whether it was a win, shortlist, or nomination.

Explain the criteria

Link the issuer's award page and describe the selection process only if the issuer has published it.

Show relevant work

Give one or two checkable examples tied to the award without claiming that the award independently audited every aspect of the company.

Add a measured quote

An approved spokesperson can explain what the recognition means for customers or the team without declaring the company the best in all markets.

Milestone release structure

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — [City], [Date]. [Organization] has reached [precise milestone] as of [measurement date], counted using [method]. The milestone follows [specific factual context]. [Authorized spokesperson] said, '[approved explanation of why it matters].' The organization will [confirmed next action].

For a customer count, clarify whether it means active, cumulative, paid, or registered customers. For an environmental or safety claim, disclose the boundary, period, method, and independent assurance if any. A round number alone is not evidence of impact.

Publishing checks

If the recognition is sponsored or paid, disclose that relationship. PRSA's ethics guidance warns against omissions that create a false impression of independence.

  • Get permission to use the award name, seal, and photographs.
  • Link the issuer's current announcement where available.
  • Confirm dates, ranking language, and eligibility.
  • Avoid unverifiable 'first', 'largest', and 'most trusted' claims.
  • Give journalists a contact and underlying evidence.
