New Product Press Release: Example and Verification Checklist

A fictional launch sample that keeps availability, features, price, quotes, and product claims verifiable.

A new-product release should make the launch status unmistakable. Is the product purchasable now, available to preorder, or still in development? A clear answer is more valuable to readers than an enthusiastic adjective. Use the fictional sample below as a structure, then replace every placeholder with evidence and obtain approval before distribution.

Collect launch facts first

Confirm the product name, company, release date, eligible markets, price or pricing route, order link, core features, compatibility, limitations, warranty or support path, and a contact who can answer product questions. Test the live destination in the relevant country and device before scheduling the announcement.

Decide who needs the news. A specialized business tool may call for trade reporters and current customers; a consumer launch may need a different explanation. Do not assume that a broad distribution list compensates for a weak product claim or a broken checkout.

Fictional sample release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — [CITY], [DATE] — [COMPANY], a [VERIFIED DESCRIPTION], announced [PRODUCT NAME], a [PRODUCT TYPE] designed for [DEFINED USER AND TASK]. The product is [AVAILABLE NOW / AVAILABLE ON A VERIFIED FUTURE DATE] in [CONFIRMED MARKETS] at [WORKING URL], with [PRICE OR CLEAR PRICE SOURCE].

The launch version includes [TESTED FEATURE ONE] and [TESTED FEATURE TWO]. [MATERIAL LIMITATION OR ELIGIBILITY CONDITION] applies. '[APPROVED QUOTE EXPLAINING THE USER NEED OR DESIGN DECISION],' said [AUTHORIZED NAME AND TITLE]. Product details, images, and support information are available at [REAL URL]. Media contact: [REAL NAME AND EMAIL]. This is a fictional template, not a report of an actual product launch.

Edit for a reporter's questions

01

What is actually new?

Name the change in observable terms, not a claim that the product is first, best, or revolutionary without a defensible comparison.

02

Who can use it now?

Distinguish launch, limited pilot, preorder, waitlist, and planned release. Name material geographic or device restrictions.

03

Can the evidence be checked?

Link to specifications, demos, methods, or independent testing for consequential performance and safety claims.

04

Who owns the words?

Get approval from every person quoted and from any partner whose name, logo, or results appear.

Publish and follow through

Coordinate the release with product pages, customer support, social posts, and the sales team. If a feature changes or launch slips, update the announcement before distribution. Preserve a dated correction if a material error is discovered after publication.

Track the right outcomes separately: distribution copies, independent coverage, qualified visits, trials, purchases, and support issues. The release can make the product easier to understand; it cannot substitute for availability or a working customer experience.
