A paid media funnel is a planning model for the steps between an ad and a useful outcome. People do not all move through a neat linear path, so the model should help you test messages and remove friction, not imply that every impression becomes a lead. Start by defining the audience, offer, and action you can actually measure.
Three useful stages
01
Awareness
Introduce a relevant problem or offering to people who may not know you. Measure qualified exposure and attention cautiously; an impression alone is not proof someone understood the message.
02
Consideration
Help interested people compare, ask questions, or inspect evidence. A case study, demonstration, FAQ, or clear product page may fit better than repeating the awareness ad.
03
Action
Offer a purchase, booking, sign-up, or enquiry with transparent terms. Send the click to a landing page that fulfills the ad's promise and works on mobile.
Measurement without false certainty
Choose meaningful conversion actions before launching and test that they fire correctly. Separate a button click from a completed purchase or qualified lead. Google Ads documents website actions such as purchases and sign-ups as possible conversions, but the advertiser must decide which actions matter and implement measurement correctly.
A customer may see several ads and other channels before acting. Attribution models assign credit by a rule or data model; they do not reveal a perfect causal truth. Compare campaign results with cost, lead quality, and the business objective, and respect applicable consent and privacy requirements when collecting data.
A small test plan
Write one hypothesis for a specific audience and offer. Create a matching ad and destination, set a budget limit and test period, confirm conversion tracking, and check the page on a phone. Review search terms or placement quality, completed actions, cost, and customer feedback. Change one major element at a time where practical so the next decision is understandable.
If the landing page cannot explain the offer or fulfill demand, increasing spend only sends more people into the same problem. Fix the experience before scaling the campaign.
