The contractor said it compared local quotes and considered labor, materials, and supplies. Those numbers described its 2024 sample and assumptions, not an official citywide price index or a guaranteed quote for any home.
The original headline linked the estimates to easing inflation and suggested costs were stabilizing. That broader conclusion was the company's interpretation; the release did not establish that every contractor's prices had leveled out. HomeHero's updated cost guide now gives a different estimate and explains factors such as roof area, pitch, materials, tear-off, decking, ventilation, permits, and local labor. Its newer figures should not be blended with the 2024 set without labeling the years.
A homeowner should obtain a written, property-specific scope from more than one qualified contractor and compare materials, warranties, permits, disposal, and payment terms. An unusually low or high estimate may reflect a different scope rather than a different market. The 2024 figures are useful historical context, but current planning requires current quotes.
