Announcement

Ernst & Young LLP announced in March 2023 that Jonathan Garcia, chief executive of solar-energy company Simmitri, had been selected for its Entrepreneurs Access Network cohort. The program was created to support Black and Hispanic or Latino business owners as they scale their companies. Garcia described the opportunity as a way to work with other entrepreneurs and advisers while developing the family-owned business.

The distributed announcement said about 70 entrepreneurs were chosen from roughly 1,000 applications, across 15 geographies and ten sectors. EY described the program as offering business curriculum, one-to-one coaching, and introductions to investors, potential partners, and other cohort members. Those figures and program features are attributed to EY's release; selection is not evidence that Simmitri received funding or achieved a later commercial milestone.

Simmitri described itself at the time as a Silicon Valley provider of solar-energy and roof systems. This historical item concerns the 2023 cohort only. Anyone interested in Simmitri's present services or EY's current eligibility criteria should check the organizations' latest information, since program terms, personnel, and offerings can change.
