SWOT Analysis 2024: A Dated Company-Research Guide

Learn how to read a 2024 SWOT without confusing a historical snapshot with a current business forecast.

An abstract network of retail competitors and market charts.

A SWOT separates internal strengths and weaknesses from external opportunities and threats. This page is a 2024 research hub: it explains the method and links to company analyses from that period. A historical SWOT can be useful for understanding decisions at the time, but should never be treated as an unchanged 2026 view. The earlier page included sweeping company claims without clear dates or evidence; these replacements point readers to dated primary filings.

Use the four boxes precisely

Strengths

Internal resources or capabilities supported by evidence: an established distribution system, a product ecosystem, or specialized expertise.

Weaknesses

Internal limits or costs: service gaps, concentration, a difficult production process, or a capability the company has not yet built.

Opportunities

External developments the company could use, such as demand in a new segment. An opportunity is a hypothesis, not booked revenue.

Threats

External developments that could hurt results, including competition, policy, input costs, or changing customer behavior. A risk is not proof of harm.

Build a traceable 2024 snapshot

Choose the exact reporting period first. A company may call a fiscal year '2024' even though it ended in January of that year, while another report covers the calendar year and was filed in 2025. Link the primary filing beside each material assertion and label your own interpretation. If a figure comes from an outside estimate, record the estimator, market definition, and date.

Then choose one or two decisions the analysis is meant to inform. A SWOT with twenty generic adjectives but no decision is not useful. Ask how a strength could address a threat, which weakness blocks an opportunity, and what new evidence would change your view.

Company analyses

The linked company pages use their own annual reports and identify the reporting period. They are educational strategic analyses, not investment recommendations. Compare any historical conclusion with newer disclosures before relying on it.
